AI, Sequential Decision Making and Digital Interventions

In this workshop we will introduce the "micro-randomized" trial design via real life examples, discuss methods for inference concerning causal excursion effects in sequential decision making, discuss online reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms that can be used, and are in use, for learning sequential decision making policies.   We will discuss challenges in real-life implementation of online RL algorithms and discuss a number of open problems in sequential decision making.
