An introduction to Polars – A Python DataFrame module

If you work with data in Python, odds are you use Pandas.

There are, however, other dataframe libraries out there: DuckDB, datatable, Dask, etc.

Polars is one of these libraries. It is super fast, with a consistent and intuitive API (inspired by pyspark).

For some users (myself included), Polars has completely replaced Pandas.

In this workshop, I will benchmark Polars with Pandas and numpy, to convince you it is indeed orders of magnitude faster than Pandas.

We will then get acquainted with the API: The design principles, useful functions, etc.

I will be assuming prior knowledge of Python and Pandas.

I will be sharing code beforehand, so you can follow with your laptop, print beforehand, or just listen and re-run the code at your own convenience.
